A call for nominations for SAANZ President is now open.
Why you might consider putting your hand up for the role (or shoulder-tapping someone you know):
- It’s a great way to meet your fellow sociologists around the motu;
- It looks good on your CV, including when applying for promotion;
- The role is not onerous. The exec now has ‘Portfolio Holders’ to help distribute SAANZ executive responsibilities. This means the role of President is about facilitating as well as being the spokesperson for sociology, as required. The creation of portfolios also frees up the President to pursue stronger connections between SAANZ and other organisations;
- Ordinarily, it’s a 2-year term, but because the call is earlier than usual, the term can be either 1.5 or 2.5 years – your call.
Who’s eligible:
- Anyone who is a member of SAANZ is eligible to for nomination.
- You don’t need to be a senior member of the sociology community.
